Services we provide to the community 

LAND RADIO MONITORING SERVICES

Our volunteers provide a listening watch for emergency & safety of life calls on the citizen band radio network. 

Our volunteer radio operators will then advise the responsible service or agency e.g emergency or utility services, whereas they are required to attend to incidents that have been reported to us.

We also provide radio equipment checks and weather information on request.

We can be contacted on the following channels UHF CB 5 & 35

Our land-based monitoring stations are located at

Goodna, Rockhampton, Jimboomba (As Required)
 

Marine Radio Qualifications

 A Marine Radio Licence is required if you are operating Marine VHF Radios (known as Short Range - SROCP) and/or MF/HF Radios (known as Long Range - LROCP).

Our volunteers can assist you in obtaining your marine radio license.

Current pricing

For Individuals $150 For Pensions/Groups/ Non-profit discounts are available.

Minimum prescribed age in years - 16

MARINE RADIO MONITORING SERVICES

Our volunteers provide a listening watch for emergency and safety of life calls and also provide vessel tracking on the lower section of the Brisbane and Bremer Rivers out to Moreton Bay as an additional safety service for coverage.  

We also provide radio equipment checks and weather information on request.
We also currently have four dedicated AIS receiving stations located at Shorncliffe, Goodna, Southport, and South Bank these stations receive vessel information which is then displayed on the
MarineTraffic live map with coverage of Moreton Bay, Gold Coast & Northern NSW, Brisbane & Bremer Rivers.

We also monitor our own VHF marine radio link via zello which allows us to monitor remotely covering from Tin Can Bay to Northern NSW, the lower section of the Brisbane River & also Bremer River, we also monitor SART alarms via the Boat Beacon app which alerts our volunteers if help is needed.

We also answer calls on behalf of Marine Rescue Brisbane VMR401

Community Engagement

Our organisation also does public displays and information stalls at local community events. We also offer training for general and commercial users who are using radios such as the correct use of radio & basic communication protocols.

We also have portable repeaters, radio equipment & portable wifi internet equipment to areas that can be set up to provide communications & safety support for events needing communications.

Our volunteers are also happy to provide advice and training on radio communications for events and private use, we also have various skills in programming and identifying radio issues
